Chief Financial Officer, New World Development

Mr. Fu Keung (Edward) Lau has over 20 years of experience in corporate management, investment banking, consulting and accounting. Edward is Chief Financial Officer of New World Development Co. Ltd. (HKSE:17) leading Group’s financial functions including Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions and Investor Relations. Before joining New World, Edward was the Chief Financial Officer of a Chinese property developer with focus on Greater Bay Area. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Edward was awarded “Best CFO” in All-Asia Executive Team Leaders survey organized by Institutional Investor (II) for three consecutive years. Edward has rich experience in innovative sustainable financing. In 2021, NWD became the first real estate developer globally to issue a USD Sustainability Linked Bonds. Recently, NWD became the first corporate in the world to issue a USD-denominated social and green dual tranche offering in the public bond markets. Edward held various senior banking positions with global investment banks prior to his CFO career. He managed structured credit investments in the Global Credit Trading group of Deutsche Bank. Edward had originated and executed 170+ equity and fixed income deals, with his last role as the Head of Equity Capital Markets, Greater China at Barclays Capital. Edward received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (with Distinction) and Master of Accounting (with Distinction) from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2001 and 2002 respectively. He is a U.S. (Delaware) Certified Public Accountant Certificate holder. Edward served as a member of the Greater Bay Area Working Group under the Mainland Opportunities Committee of Financial Services Development Council (FSDC), HKSAR Government.
